What to expect...
Leaders Convene to Address Key Global Issues in Washington, D.C.
The US-Arab Economic Forum (USAEF) has strategically designed its agenda to coincide with the current economic, social and political struggles facing the U.S. and Arab World. As we look toward the stabilization of Iraq, joint economic opportunities, social implications, and environmental impact, this year's Forum promises to address these issues at the highest levels resulting in strategic solutions. As financial indicators point toward the possibility of a U.S. recession, which affects the global economy, and the Arab World looks toward peace and stability, the importance of working together to formulate solutions is paramount.
The Forum will cover issues such as: "Iraq: From Fragile to Stable State" identifying the social, economic and political challenges ahead, and the best manner to address issues ; Economic Panels addressing joint economic cooperation, the concerns of national security, the cost of war, Islamic finance and development; and social issues surrounding the advancement and education of women and youth.
A few of the confirmed keynote speakers and panelists to-date include: H.E. Amr Moussa, Secretary General of the Arab League; Mr. Craig Barret, CEO of Intel; H.E. Fawzi-Al Hariri, Minister of Industry, Iraq; and, Kemal Dervis, Administrator of the United Nations Development Program. Both the U.S. and Arab World speakers represent the highest levels of decision-makers assuring a productive and forward-moving agenda.
We look forward to seeing you in Washington!

The League of Arab States
The League of Arab States has been a staunch supporter and co-partner of the U.S. Arab Economic Forum since its inception in 2003, and the Forum is proud to highlight this long-term relationship, which has greatly enhanced the success of the USAEF.
The League of the Arab States is a regional organization of Arab States in the Middle East and North Africa. It was formed in Cairo on March 22, 1945 and currently has 22 members. H.E. Amr Moussa is the Secretary General of the League of Arab States and has greatly contributed to the success of the USAEF through his continued support. The main goal of the League is to draw closer the relations between member States and co-ordinate collaboration between them, to safeguard their independence and sovereignty, and to consider in a general way the affairs and interests of the Arab countries.
The Arab League is involved in political, economic, cultural, and social programs designed to promote the interests of member states, and serves as a forum for member states to coordinate their policy positions and deliberate on matters of common concern. The Arab League has launched literacy campaigns, reproduced intellectual works and translated modern technical terminology for the use of member states.

Featured Supporting Initiative...
U.S.-Arab Leadership Program
The U.S.-Arab Leadership Program (USALP) is one of four key initiatives of the American Middle-East Economic Affairs Committee (AMEEAC) developed as a direct outgrowth of the U.S.-Arab Economic Forum (USAEF), held in Houston, Texas in June 2006.
USALP is a private sector initiative designed to bring emerging leaders from across the United States to the Middle East to engage with their counterparts and gain additional insight and understanding of the Arab World. USALP's successful delegations to Qatar, Dubai, Lebanon and Egypt have proven to be effective in promoting mutual understanding and dialogue in order to forge stronger ties between the business, government and academic communities of the US and Arab World.
Following their successful launch at the U.S. Arab Economic Forum in 2006, USALP continues to build a broad base of partnerships with world renowned public and private organizations, including the Middle East Economic Affairs Committee (AMEEAC), The Loeffler Group, The Institute of International Education (IIE), and the League of Arab States.
USALP continues to strengthen economic and social bridges through increased exposure of the Arab World to key American community and business leaders from a broad range of professional and personal backgrounds. The carefully selected delegates, who are key decision-makers and leaders in their sectors, have been successful in acting as a bridge of understanding to help strengthen U.S.-Arab relations while raising awareness of the leadership role of the Arab American community in the United States. |
